Dear Friends,
I was introduced to The Breastplate of St. Patrick, a "great whale of a prayer", by a television show, "Nothing Sacred" which debuted on ABC in the Fall of 1997. It has been a source of blessing to me ever since. The prayer invites the person praying to reconnect with the God of all Creation, the God of Power, Passion, and Purpose, who is best known to us in Christ. "I bind myself today ..."
May it bind you to Christ on St. Patrick's Day and every day.
Tim Lawson, Pastor
St. Patrick’s Breastplate
As rendered on “Nothing Sacred” (ABC, Fall 1997)
I bind myself to the strong virtue of love,
and the obedience of angels,
and the prediction of prophets,
and the preaching of the apostles,
and the faith of confessors.
I bind myself to the power of heaven,
the light of the sun,
the brightness of the moon,
the splendor of fire,
the flashing of lightning,
the swiftness of wind,
the depth of the sea,
the stability of earth,
the compactness of rocks.
I bind myself today:
God’s power to guide me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s power to lead me,
God’s eye to watch over me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to give me speech.
Christ with me and before me.
Christ behind me and within me.
Christ to the right of me.
Christ to the left of me.
Christ above me.
Christ beneath me.
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me.
Christ in the eye of everyone who sees me.
Christ in the ear of everyone who hears me.
I bind myself today to the strong virtue of Christ. Amen.

Children's Ministry (PreK-4th)
Jesus wants us to be more like him! This week we will learn how Peter wanted to be loyal to Jesus but failed. Jesus offered Peter reassurance and encouraged Peter to be strong and help the other disciples. We hope you can join us this week as we learn from Jesus and make a commitment to be more like him.
Youth Ministry (7th-12th)
Youth Sunday School is now being held in the youth building classroom across from the rec room. Please use either side door, not the front doors for Sunday School.

Letter from Fuller House Bicyclists
We hosted a crew of bicyclists from the Fuller Center for Housing the weekend of March 3, 2023. They were headed to Lake Charles, LA to help out work on houses that were damaged by the past hurricanes that have hit that area. They stayed the night and were fed by some of the congregational members. Some attended the Traditional Worship Service and complemented how much they enjoyed it. As you can see by the above thank you card that we received, the bicyclists are from different parts of the USA. The card is in the church office for anyone to come by and look at.

If you have a new address, cell phone number or email, please call the church office to update your information.
Volunteers Needed
If anyone is willing to do the Joy & Concerns and the Prayer for the Traditional Service, please contact Betty Hodges or the Church Office.

“Acolytes Needed” for 9:00 AM Traditional Service
Being an Acolyte:
The Acolyte Ministry provides children with a meaningful opportunity to be involved and serve in the Lord’s house as helpers and attendants in the Worship service. The recommended age for children to serve as an Acolyte is normally 2nd through 6th grade, however 1st grade or older children are always welcome. It takes a little courage initially to walk down the aisle in front of the congregation and perform the duties, but do not worry because Acolytes are trained before they perform their duties.
We are seeking children who wish to serve as an Acolyte for our 9:00 A.M. Traditional Service. If your child is interested in being a part of our Acolyte Ministry, please email/contact; Peggy Lantrip – PeggySLantrip@Cox.net or call (225) 324-3575 or call the Church office,

Volunteers In The Archives
Every year hundreds of thousands of people volunteer across the globe. People worldwide are willing to share their knowledge and skills, from work professionals to high school students. From participating in non-profit organizations like churches, food pantries, scouting, Red Cross to local historical societies and in ways that touch every aspect of our daily lives. Non-profit organizations could not survive without volunteers.
In research carried out by the Johns Hopkins Center for Civic Society Studies. Based on the response to the question of the research, “Have you volunteered your time to an organization?” Here is the percentage in the United States, the top country with total volunteering citizens from respondents worldwide:
Zachary United Methodist Church has twenty of its twenty-one-one outreach ministries staffed by volunteers. I want to take this opportunity to thank three volunteers to the Archives in 2022. Olga Wilson reviewed The Advocate each week for obituaries of members from our church and continues to provide this valuable clipping service. David Clayton volunteered fifty-seven service hours. He made a significant contribution by processing two record group collections the Archives received in 2021, as follows:
Traditional Worship Service Bulletins Years 1987 through 2021
Fishnet Newsletters Years 1987 through 2018
The Fishnet Newsletter was discontinued in 2019
Thank you to the volunteers and for Betty Pope’s service in January of 2022. If you are interested in volunteering or would be interested in taking responsibility for the Archives in the future, Please call church office 225-654-2389
