Missions
We believe the Gospel calls us to give witness to the message of Jesus Christ, to offer hope, and to serve the needs of others. Listed below are some of the ways you can be in mission with us.
Small Group Missions
Through the various children’s, pre-teen, youth, and adult small groups of our church, mission projects are carried out throughout the year. Go to the Connect page on our website to find the right group for you.

Friends & Needles
Friends & Needles is a sewing and craft ministry led by Carla Murray and Brenda Obeidzinski. The group uses their creativity to provide for the practical needs and emotional and spiritual support of others. This includes things like blankets for the Veterans Home, clothing for those with needs, prayer shawls for those in the hospital, and masks for hospital workers. Friends & Needles meets at 1:00 p.m. on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thursdays of each month. If you would like to participate and serve with the ministry, contact the church office.
Stephen Ministries
Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life, but they all share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need. Our Stephen Ministry is led by Betty Hodges. Contact the church office for more information.
Kids Hope
Our mission is to see lives changed and communities transformed by the gospel. Join us as we head out into our community to reflect Christ to our neighbors who need to see God loves them. One child, one hour, one church, one school. One caring adult, mentoring a child in need for one hour every week helps makes a kid feel loved and valued and better able to learn, grow, and succeed. We are so fortunate to have Kids Hope USA at Zachary United Methodist Church, partnering with Rollins Place Elementary School. We are one of many to participate in this faith based mentoring program across the USA. For more information contact the church office.
Louisiana United Methodist Hurricane Relief & Disaster Recovery
As Zachary has faced storms and floods, our congregation has been active in providing relief and recovery to those affected.
The Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home
The mission of the Children’s Home is to guide children and families home to experience God’s love by following the teachings of Christ. The vision of the Children’s Home is to provide the highest quality of care to Louisiana’s children and families by offering holistic services which promote personal growth and wholesome family life. We pattern our ministry by following the example of Jesus Christ who ministers to all in order that each may experience the wholeness which accompanies the reconciling love of God. Throughout the year our church works to be an advocate and ally for the ministry of the Children’s Home.
Al-Anon
Al‑Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help. Al-Anon is not a religious program and there are no fees or dues to belong to it.
Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. It doesn’t cost anything to attend A.A. meetings. There are no age or education requirements to participate. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem.
A.A.’s primary purpose is to help alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
Narcotics Anonymous
Narcotics Anonymous is a global, community-based organization with a multi-lingual and multicultural membership. We offer recovery from the effects of addiction through working a twelve-step program, including regular attendance at group meetings. The group atmosphere provides help from peers and offers an ongoing support network for addicts who wish to pursue and maintain a drug-free lifestyle. Our name, Narcotics Anonymous, is not meant to imply a focus on any particular drug; NA’s approach makes no distinction between drugs including alcohol. Membership is free, and we have no affiliation with any organizations outside of NA including governments, religions, law enforcement groups, or medical and psychiatric associations. Through all of our service efforts and our cooperation with others seeking to help addicts, we strive to reach a day when every addict in the world has an opportunity to experience our message of recovery in his or her own language and culture.
